The Limestone Coast Pantry, was established in 2017 in the historic Woollen Mill (Central Worsted Mill 1925) in Mount Gambier, is a family owned and operated business in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.

Mount Gambier is home to the famous Blue Lake where the growing of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and dairy produce is still clean and pure – we are spoiled for choice when it comes to quality products to feature on our menu and sell in our retail outlet.

Head Chef/Production Kitchen/Caterer/Short order

Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced strategic thinker who is an enthusiastic industry professional to join our team and drive our food production vision.

Nestled in Mount Gambier, the Limestone Coast is the resource rich food bowl of South Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity if you have a ‘can do’ pro-active and pleasant attitude.

To be successful for this position you will be competent in the following criteria:

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. High level of experience and organisational skill, including in high stress situations, leading the entire kitchen with consistency in either: Catering/Functions/Production kitchen/Café/Restaurant
  2. Managing rosters and working to budget – experience
  3. Managing food costings and portion sizes – experience
  4. Reliable, self-driven and can work autonomously and as part of our team
  5. Excellent attention to detail with a strong work ethic
  6. Knowledge & understanding of all areas of food safety, hygiene and best practices

  • A strong regional & local focus
  • Open to direction and learning
  • Working with the owner and be a team player to achieve the business vision objectives

Other job information:

  • Hours negotiable across a 7-day rotating roster, predominately 9 – 5 and be available nights when required
  • The role is flexible and can be created as permanent or casual, 30-40 hours per week

To be successful for this position you will be competent in the following criteria:

  2. Managing rosters & diverse staff experience
  3. Managing stock control and working to budget – experience
  4. Reliable, self-driven and can work autonomously and as part of our team
  5. Excellent attention to detail with a strong work ethic
  6. Knowledge & understanding of all areas of retail, menus, food safety, hygiene and best practices
